Yes, it is great to be Canadian. We are Feminine-Perspective Magazine published by the Global Women's rights and safety CSO, The RINJ Foundation. From our publisher's role providing specialized care to women and children in dangerous regions, like Gaza Strip for example, and other war zones, what do we know that other media don't think about?

Research consistently shows that women and men read and consume news differently, both in terms of what they read and how they engage with what they read.

While individual habits vary, there is a general consensus in media research that gender socialization influences news preferences. Women tend to be more selective, often showing higher interest in topics related to health, education, and lifestyle, while men frequently gravitate toward politics, sports, and economics. Men are more likely to be interested in hard news, such as international politics and sports. Women often show higher engagement with news that has practical applications for daily life, such as health, education, local news, and community issues. Women are more likely to consume news that is presented in an engaging, human-interest format, whereas men are often more interested in raw information.

Can we fix this?

The consensus is that the differences are not innate, but rather driven by societal norms, life stages, and the misogynistic ways in which news is produced, which often favour a "male" perspective/a>. Men have the money and that is what advertisers want?

As of 2025-2026, research still points to a significant underrepresentation of women in news coverage with women making up only a quarter of those seen or heard in the news which contributes to lower engagement rates.
